How To Increase Happiness

 
All of us suffer from unhappiness at one time or another. Sometimes it is difficult to keep ourselves uplifted. However, there are many things we can do to help achieve happiness.

Always look at what you have done, NEVER at what you have not done. When you start a day planning to do several things but are not able to accomplish those things, you may become frustrated, yet you may have accomplished a lot during the day. Instead of being happy and satisfied, you feel unhappy. NEVER focus on what you have not done. You are being unfair towards yourself.

Endeavor to change the way you look at things. Always look at the bright side. The mind may try to drag you into thinking about negativity and difficulties. Do not let it. Look at the good side of every situation.

Think of solutions, not problems. No matter how long and how much you worry about why you have a particular problem or what caused it, you will not solve the problem unless you start thinking about solutions.

TIPS TO HELP YOU STAY HAPPY:

*Listen to relaxing, uplifting music. Close your eyes and think about all the things in life you are thankful for; your family, your friends, your job, your pets, your talents, your abilities, the list can be endless.

*Watch comedies that make you laugh. Laugh long and hard. Lose yourself in the moment.

*Each day devote some time to reading some pages of an inspiring book or article.

*Start a journal. You do not have to write in it every day. However, it is a good way to know what you are thinking and feeling.

*Watch your thoughts. Whenever you catch yourself thinking negative thoughts, stop them and try to think of pleasant things.

*Each day do something good for yourself. It can be a small thing such as buying a book, eating something you love, watching your favorite program on TV, going to a movie, or just having a stroll on the beach.

*Each day do at least one thing to make others happy. This can be a kind word, stopping your car at the crossroad to let people cross, giving your seat in a bus to someone else, or giving a small present to someone you love. The possibilities are infinite. When you make someone happy, you become happy.

*Always expect happiness. Do not envy people who are happy. On the contrary, be happy for their happiness. Happiness is contagious. Be where happy people are and try to learn from them to be happy.

*When things do not proceed as intended and desired, endeavor to stay detached. Detachment will help you to stay calm and control your moods and reactions. Detachment is not indifference. It has much to do with inner peace, and inner peace is conducive to happiness.

Any technique that helps to relax the mind and quiet the rush of thoughts will lead to happiness. By taking the first step today, happiness will start to fill your life.
