How To Be Great

THE SECRET OF TRUE GREATNESS.

If I asked you what it would take for you to achieve greatness in your life's endeavours, what would you say?

By greatness, I mean a superior quality of life as opposed to a mediocre one. I mean a life that positively impacts the lives of others (even if someone positively impacts just one life, I would consider that person great because every single life is worth it) without necessarily seeking a reward.

Right there I have hinted at the 'secret' of true greatness. As you read the following words, think about how you can apply them to every facet of your life.

A great life is a fulfilling one. Evidence that you're living a great life includes inner peace, joy and satisfaction. You were created for greatness, and anything short of that just doesn't feel right to you. The desire within you to be more, do more and have more than you currently have, is your greatness seeking expression. Will you heed its plea and give it full expression?

Would you like to have a great marriage? Great relationships with others? Great pay in your job? Great income from your business? Great self-esteem?

You name it. If you wish to be great, there's one main principle you must apply. It's a universal principle, meaning it applies equally across the board. Here it is:

'Take up the mindset of a diligent servant'.

In other words, seek to serve in all you do. A diligent servant serves to the best of his ability, knowing that he will be very well rewarded (not necessarily by his boss either). He doesn't do things out of 'eye service', or just 'to look good on the outside'. Rather, he seeks to serve and then serves the best way he knows how, simply because that is a superior way to be.

A diligent servant is *always* asking 'how can I serve this person?' 'what can I give?'. 'how can I help?'.

You see, a truly great person is wise to the fact that in serving others, in giving, in helping others, God will give back to him and help him. He therefore does not worry about chasing after things for himself. This applies to everyone, whether you call God 'the Universe' or 'Infinite Intelligence', or whether you know who He really is. It works just as surely as gravity works whether you understand or believe it or not.

And because your focus is on the other person, and how you can help them, you are fr*ee from issues of self-esteem, depression, fear of public speaking(!), marital disharmony, job dissatisfaction, financial constraints and so forth.

Rather, as you focus on others and serve them to the best of your ability, you will notice a definite improvement in your quality of life. Your finances will improve (just ask Bill Gates - his focus was on placing a pc in every home, with his software running in each one. Thanks to his work, you're reading my words today. That vision has impacted so many people that Mr Gates is one of the richest men in the world at this time. Talk about a handsome reward).

When you willingly give to others, you attract abundance to yourself. This is because in giving, you are sending messages to your subconscious that 'I *have more than enough* so I am happy to give'. And remember, according to the 'Law of Attraction', you attract whatever thought is dominant in your subconscious mind. In this case, you'd attract more of 'having more than enough'.

This principle of serving in all you do, WORKS. Try it today and for the next 7 days. Better yet, apply it every day from now on.

Even if your job seems mundane and boring, shift your focus on how it seems to *you*. Focus instead on doing it to the best of your ability. Trust me, there's no faster way to attract a better paying job than to 'become greater' than your current position. And you only become greater by approaching your job like a diligent servant.

I could go on and on, but I'm sure you see already, how this principle could greatly enhance your quality of life.

Being truly great is not about 'what's in it for me?'. Rather, it's about 'how can I bring about the greatest good to the greatest number of people?' It's about 'ask not what the other guy can do for you; rather, ask what you can do for the other guy', to paraphrase John F. Kennedy.

Give your greatness its full expression today. You were made for nothing less. Do not deny yourself everything that life has to offer - all things are yours to enjoy, but ONLY if you approach life with the mindset of a 'diligent servant'.
